Indian Student Kills Himself When Told Not To Play PUBG

PUBG has been featured in the news lately, but for all the wrong reasons. The battle royale game has been under PTA’s radar and started a social media debate whether the ban was justified or not.

But, Pakistan isn’t the only country that wary of the ‘addictive’ and ‘destructive’ side effects of the game on its youth. PUBG has been the cause of many teen deaths in India, placing it in the negative spotlight.

In another tragic incident, an Indian college student took his own life after having a fight with his father over the multiplayer game.

Addiction to PUBG Takes Another Life

According to reports, the incident occurred in Jalandhar, Punjab. The boy identified as Manik, had an argument with his father over PUBG, due to which he shot himself using his father’s licensed revolver.

The extreme step was taken after his father took his smartphone to stop him from playing the game.

The report also suggests that the college student had fights with his father in the past as well since his academic score was declining. Manik’s biggest distraction was PUBG. He stopped paying attention to his studies because of it.

As a result, his father had previously damaged his smartphones. However, he continued playing the game on his father’s device.

When the father finally drew the line and took his smartphone away from his son, the young man shot and killed himself. Manik even left behind a suicide note.

It is unclear if the boy mentioned any other reasons for taking this extreme step.
