As fans are wondered about the future of the Black Panther franchise, Disney announced that they will not cast another actor as T’Challa. So what does this mean for the sequel?
“There will be only one T’Challa”
Disney paid tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman on Investor’s Day. The company announced that no substitute would be sought for the late actor’s titular role in Black Panther. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said;
“His portrayal of T’Challa the Black Panther is iconic and transcends any iteration of the character in any other medium from Marvel’s past – and it’s for that reason that we will not recast the character,”

Disney also revealed details of its upcoming Marvel superhero films and series. According to Kevin Feige, they will explore Wakanda, but T’Challa just won’t have center stage in the sequel film.
“To honor the legacy that Chad helped us build through his portrayal of the king of Wakanda, we want to continue to explore the world of Wakanda,”
Although it will be ‘hard to work on the sequel now’, Kevin Feige and director Ryan Coogler will continue using ‘all of the rich and varied characters introduced in the first film‘. The Black Panther 2 release date set for July 2022.
Chadwick Boseman died in August this year after a four-year-long battle with colon cancer. The star never talked about his health publically and his death shook the whole world.
