After making waves with her power anthem ‘Hot Mango Chutney Sauce‘ and her Coke Studio track with brother Faris Shafi ‘Muaziz Saarif‘. Meesha Shafi now brings us a wedding anthem with ‘Mahiya Ve Mahiya‘.
A Punjabi single that really follows a storyline like Punjabi ‘sithniyan‘ and has a steady beat going is bound to become a wedding anthem this ‘Shadi season’.
The track is featured in the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha release London Nahi Jaunga. Aside from vocal powerhouse Meesha Shafi, singer Shani Arshad also lent his vocals to the track. With the music video for the song featuring Kubra Khan shows some stellar dance moves. Given how this is a hip Punjabi wedding song, we could have done with some more bhangra moves or gidda.
Even a luddi would do since we decided this will be the wedding anthem now.
The extravagant aesthetic of the music video, everything from the color scheme and costumes to the set and the vibe. It’s soo good that people feel it’s somewhat like Shazia Mansoor’s 2014 song Ballay Ballay.
The Punjabi songtress is known for keeping many Punjabi sithniyan and folks songs alive. Did we really need a remake of her single?
