Is ‘Pehli Si Mohhabat’ Becoming a Torturous Romance? [Review]

Here is all that went down in the new episode.

Pehli Si Mohhabat

Pehli Si Mohhabat is becoming a torturous romance. From Sikandar’s cruelty to Murad being his usual self again.

In the latest episode of Pehli Si Mohhabat we see Aslam’s (Sheheryar Munawar) family trying to push him to move on. His brother Akram (Hassan Sheheryar Yasin) has engaged him in the family business.

Meanwhile, Sikandar (Saleem Miraj) is doing all he can to get back at ‘those who wronged him,’ but he’s directing his anger and pain at the wrong people. Rakshi (Maya Ali) and Aslam are the only ones suffering.

Maya Ali’s acting is superb as always. It’s also nice to see a drama serial portray a hurt lover as hurt and not angry. Aslam’s sincere tears are a refreshing change compared to the usual ‘all is fair in love and war’ trope we see most ‘heroes’ play on Pakistani television.

Men have feelings too, and they definitely cry too.

Especially when we see Aslam’s expression when Sikandar brings Rakshi to his shop to buy her wedding dress. The look on Sheheryar Munawar’s face said it all.

But for once Akram consoling his brother while he cried gave us hope that he’s not all gone. Deep down he does feel bad for his brother.

We’re all really in the zone after watching this, feeling like a forlorn lover.

However, there is still hope yet. Maybe this isn’t a tragedy.

Zainab is still trying to get through to Sikandar. However, he does have a point. If he doesn’t marry Rakshi, someone else will. Both Faizulllah (Shabbir Jan) and Akram aren’t about to place happiness before ‘log kya kahenge’.

Meanwhile, we pretty much have a love-hate relationship with Murad at this point. He does look out for his wife but still doesn’t trust her.

This also dampens our hopes of Akram coming around, people don’t just change. Amid this, characters like Nargis (Rabia Butt) keep our hopes alive. We missed her dialogues and sassy expressions in this episode.

Let’s hope we see more of her heroism in the next episode.
