Italians Start Singing on Rooftops to Keep Their Minds off Corona [Video]

What was their song of choice?

viral Corona video

We’ve all seen that viral Corona video of people in Italy singing from their balconies as they remain quarantined in their homes. What they’re actually doing is actually hilarious.

The viral video in question is of an Italian neighborhood singing Rihanna’s ‘Bitch Better Have My Money‘. That audio turned out to be a fake. The smooth pronunciation was kind of a giveaway. Plus the user that shared this video isn’t even based in Italy.

Later on, it seemed the same footage depicted Italians singing ‘Love You Like A Love Song‘ by Selena Gomez. We knew at that point something was up.

What they’re actually doing is the ‘Macarena‘!

You can even see these people busting those Macarena moves in the video. An Italian doctoral candidate at Oxford, Leonardo Carella even revealed that’s not Naples. The neighborhood in the fake Rihanna sing-off video is actually Turin.

There have been similar displays of community singing and dancing in Naples, Salerno, Siena, Florence, Nuoro, Agrigento, stc as identified in Leonardo’s thread. None of them were singing a Rihanna song.

Siena even made headlines with their ‘Viva la nostra Siena‘ (hooray for our Siena) viral Corona video.

Regardless of which song they sang, one thing remained constant, the community spirit.
