Gujranwala police arrested a dangerous serial killer who had been terrorizing the area, and mainly went after women.
Police told the media that the culprit, Arsalan was mainly killing people who were sleeping on the roof.
Most of these murders have taken place in the last 4 months between April and August.
The perpetrator accepted his crimes once he was taken into police custody. He confessed to killing 3 women and one man but has been accused of carrying out a lot more murders.
Arsalan’s actions had caused fear and terror to spread amongst Gujranwala residents. Shaan Baig, a journalist in Gujranwala told Independent Urdu that multiple murders carried out in a similar way had been reported to the Police People’s Colony station. However, until recently no one had been able to identify the murderer. Baig further reported that the culprit was around 40 years of age.
Once in custody, Arsalan confessed to mainly killing women because he had been unable to get married.
Reports also show that he may have had a criminal record prior to this as well. In 2007 he was accused of injuring another man and then again in 2017, he was accused of killing 2 women. However, both times he was let off the hook because of the lack of evidence and eye witness testimony.
