Kanye West Blasted For Using Islamic Names for His Shoes

This is offensive and disrespectful to the Muslim community.

Kanye West

American rapper Kanye West has been at the forefront of many controversies. But the latest one has angered the Muslim community beyond repair. His new line of YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 has shoes named after the Islamic archangels, ‘Israfil‘ & ‘Asriel‘.

After the shoe line was launched, Muslims from all around the world expressed their concerns regarding the names. Israfil is an angel in Islam who will blow the trumpet to signal the day of judgment. While Asriel [Azrael] is the angel of death.

One online petition reads:

Having the names of angels, which we revere highly on a shoe which is used to walk on the street is a huge form of disrespect in all Muslims communities. We demand that Adiddas cease all production of this shoe immediately, issue a sincere apology to the Muslim community.

People took to their Twitter account to ‘cancel’ this line and Kanye West’s brand YEEZY. They are asking Kanye and Adidas to change the names. But we haven’t gotten any response from either of them.

Here’s what everyone has to say:
