Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar appears to have changed his views as he admits that women aren’t safe in Pakistan after what happened at Minar-e-Pakistan last week. Speaking with Arbab Jahangir on Bus Bohat Ho Gaya, the playwright said that perhaps feminists have been right all along.

The playwright was invited on the BOL News program to speak up about the “400 Vs 1” incident. Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar is notorious for his controversial statements about women and have landed in hot waters a couple of times for insulting women on and off camera.

However, the Mere Paas Tum Ho writer has now changed his stance after the recent mob attack of a TikToker at Minar-e-Pakistan.

“I don’t know what to say, and how to respond to the Minar-e-Pakistan incident. I am trying to understand the mentality of those 400 men. These men do not understand how they have shamed this country, how they took away her honour. Who are their parents? What sort of an upbringing is this that you think you can do this to someone’s daughter?,” he questioned.

According to KRQ, the police should have been present at the Greater Iqbal Park and since it is a public place and Independence Day celebrations were in full swing. He questioned the police’s incompetence and stated that this isn’t the Riyasat-e-Madina that we were promised.

Moreover, he was in a state of disbelief and disappointment. More than 400 men were present at the scene, however, there wasn’t a single being who tried to prevent the incident from happening.

“I was reading comments of some unfortunate people who thought that the victim could have avoided the harassment had she not gone there [Minar-e-Pakistan] at all. Then you are supporting the narrative of feminists where they tell us that women aren’t safe in the country. Today, I’m inclined to think they are correct. I should admit that in our country a woman’s honor isn’t protected. This isn’t an isolated incident.”
