The Dua Mangi case has shocked many. Dua was kidnapped in full public view at a restaurant in the Defence Housing Authority on Saturday night by 4-5 kidnappers who were armed to the teeth. This incident occurred at Bara Bukhari in Phase IV, DHA Karachi.
A friend of Dua’s, Haris Soomro was shot by her kidnappers who tried to resist the kidnapping attempt. He remains in a critical condition at a private hospital. The whol incident took place in the jurisdiction of Darakhshan Police Station.

Sources in the Sindh Police inform us that a ransom demand has been made by the kidnappers over Whatsapp. They are demanding USD $2.5 lakh to release Dua Mangi. Sources say that the abductors contacted the family thrice in as many days. The demand for $2.5 lakh was made just yesterday (Wednesday).

Police says that they arrested two students in connection with Dua Mangi’s kidnapping earlier this week. They believe that this whole case may not be a kidnapping per se, but a way to get revenge against Dua’s family.
Police sources state that the car that was used in the kidnapping was snatched from PECHS area last week.
Inspector Aurangzeb Khan Khattak (SHO) of Ferozabad Police Station revealed to a media outlet that the car belonged to a trader Danial Javed, and that it was snatched from him at gunpoint at PECHS Block 2. The kidnappers are alleged to have been behind this carjacking too.
