King Charles Knights Legendary Queen Guitarist Brian May

When King meets Queen.

Rock legend and Queen guitarist, Brian May was knighted at Buckingham Palace today by King Charles III, adding a new honor to his already impressive list of achievements.

The 75-year-old May, who co-wrote many of Queen’s greatest hits, including “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “We Will Rock You“, was recognized for his services to music and charity. He received the accolade of Knight Bachelor, one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon a British citizen.

May, who wore a traditional suit for the occasion, was accompanied by his wife, actress Anita Dobson.

After being escorted to the ceremony room by a palace official, May knelt before the king, who tapped him lightly on each shoulder with a sword, officially making him a knight. The musician then rose, bowed to the king, and was presented with his medal and insignia by the palace official.

May joins a long list of iconic musicians who have been knighted, including Paul McCartney, Elton John, Mick Jagger, and Eric Clapton.
