Laraib Atta Bags Oscar Nomination For Visual Effects of Bond Film

Laraib Atta, a visual artist from Pakistan, continues to make us proud. Now the young artist has bagged an Oscar nomination.

She and her team have also been nominated for the BAFTA 2022 in the category ‘Best Special Visual Effects’. Both the prestigious award ceremonies, Oscars and BAFTA, will be taking place in March 2022.

The daughter of legendary artist Attaullah Khan Esakhelvi, is the brains behind the visual effects in the latest Bond movie, ‘No Time to Die’. This Bond film bagged a total of nominations for the 94th Academy awards. It has been nominated in the categories of ‘Best Original Song’, ‘Best Song’, and ‘Best Visual Effects’.

The visual team for the movie includes the digital compositor for the film, Pakistani-born Laraib Atta.

The team also received the nomination at BAFTA 2022 for ‘Best Special Visual Effects’.

Laraib hails from the Isakhel region of Punjab, Pakistan, and she is among the youngest female VFX artists around the globe and has worked on some of Hollywood’s mega-projects including ‘Godzilla’, ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, and ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ among others.

Speaking about the nominations, the artist told ARY;

“I would like to say thank you for all the kind messages and support I’ve been receiving for Oscar, BAFTA nomination for visual effects on ‘no time to die’.”

Additionally, she thanked her brother Sanwal and her mother for always being there for her.

“It is such a great honor working beside the great minds. All thanks to my brother Sanwal and my mother for always being the guiding force and supporting me throughout.”
