Irfan Khan, aged 53, has lost the battle of life. The Bollywood actor was admitted to an ICU due to colon infection on Monday.
The Life of Pi actor breathed his last at Kokilaben Hospital, Mumbai.
The news of his death was broken by filmmaker Shoojit Sircar.
“My dear friend Irfaan. You fought and fought and fought. I will always be proud of you.. we shall meet again.”
He also paid his condolences to his wife and son, saying that they also fought along with him. To honor the Bollywood actor’s achievements, he wrote,
“Peace and Om shanti. Irfaan Khan salute.”

It is being reported that his health suddenly deteriorated due to the infection and as a result, he needed immediate medical attention.
After the news of his death broke on the internet, Irfan’s spokesperson initially denied it and said,
“It’s really disappointing to know that there are extreme assumptions being made about Irrfan’s health. While we are truly appreciative that people are concerned, it’s disheartening to see some sources spread extreme rumours and creating panic.”
However, it has been confirmed that the actor has passed away this afternoon.
A few days ago Irrfan’s mother passed away in Jaipur. The actor couldn’t attend the funeral due to the coronavirus lockdown.
In 2018, Irfan Khan was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor and was getting treated for it in London. While he was recovering from the disease, he filmed for Angrezi Medium, which will mark the end of his career.

Even with the current tensions between Pakistan and India, death of a cinematic great like Irrfan Khan cut deep. Many Pakistani celebrities offered their condolences at his passing.
