There’s no doubting the fact that fake news is a serious issue, especially in this age when a lie can be shared a million times all across the world, before someone even has a chance to verify news. Something similar happened to Pakistani music maestro Attaullah Esakhelvi, who was proclaimed dead after a battle with a physical ailment.

During the last couple days, rumors circulated that the legendary singer had departed this world for the next, prompting fans of his from all over the world to condole and send messages of tribute.

However, the man himself, Attaullah Esakhelvi took to social media to address those rumors head on. He’s alive and well, and there’s no cause for worry.

You can see him addressing the naysayers in his typical calm and collected demeanor, in a Facebook video released shortly after rumors of his death became viral:

He says:

“I’m perfectly fine, as you can see. I was hospitalised last week but that only affected my one show. I went on to conduct my Multan show recently. I have another show coming up on April 13 in Dubai. I was informed of some of the bizarre rumours circulating the social media. However, I’m extremely grateful to everyone who prayed for my speedy recovery. I couldn’t stand properly while I was receiving this civil award but I can walk just fine now.”

He had something to say to people who started the rumor of his demise in the first place. He said he has no ill will towards them and hopes that they can be guided to the right path.

Apparently the news of his ‘demise’ became so viral, that even the official page of Base Rock Cafe on Facebook, fell prey to fake news.

Local media outlets reached out to Lala, as Esakhelvi is affectionately known by, to confirm the story.

All’s well for the legendary singer, and he says he’ll be back for more.
