Everyone’s favorite tea brand, Lipton, recently dropped a bombshell: they announced the discontinuation of their beloved Peach Iced Tea. The brand’s cheeky social media post, titled “Rest In Peach,” sent fans into a frenzy, leaving many wondering if they’d ever sip their favorite flavor again.
On Tuesday night, Lipton took to social media with the shocking news: “You may have heard that our iconic Peach Lipton Ice Tea flavor is getting discontinued. We know – it hurts (sorry if we’ve ruined your go-to afternoon chill bev). But don’t worry, the rest of your faves are still here to keep you refreshed.” They even threw in the hashtag “#RIPeach,” which had fans gasping in disbelief.
The outrage was swift and fierce. One bewildered user exclaimed, “How tf does a company discontinue arguably its best seller?” It was as if Lipton had announced they were shutting down the entire tea industry.
Rival brand Red Bull couldn’t resist the opportunity to poke fun, commenting, “If anyone needs a Peach fix, we’ve got you.” Ouch!
Less than 24 hours later, Lipton revealed that the whole thing was an early April Fools’ Day prank. On Wednesday morning, they posted an update saying, “Oops, is it still March? Got my dates mixed up… thought it was April Fools already! I’d never take away your favorite flavor, pookies.”
The comments section exploded with frustration, with one user declaring, “Can we not with this new marketing strategy, it’s annoying.” Another chimed in, “Don’t call me pookie after this stunt.”
In the end, Lipton’s attempt at humor may have backfired, leaving a sour taste in the mouths of many Peach Iced Tea enthusiasts.
