No matter where you were born, or what your upbringing was like, you are most definitely familiar with the tale of Pinocchio. This timeless story about a toymaker and his most prized creation brought Italian fairytales to the mainstream. We also got to see it in action many times! But the upcoming film’s trailer hit us right in the feels!
The movie, set to be released in theaters during Christmas, is said to have award-winning visuals and layered storytelling. All of this paired with the Oscar winner, Roberto Benigni, as puppet-maker Gepetto is the perfect blend to enthrall the viewers.
The first official trailer for filmmaker Matteo Garrone’s interesting take on Pinocchio was posted yesterday. And it features newcomer Federico lelapi as the wooden boy. The film also premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival earlier this year, and the reviews were nothing but outstanding.
Let’s take a look at the trailer first:
The official synopsis for this movie reads as follows:
Shot in stunning Italian locations, Matteo Garrone’s rich world of mystery and wonder stars Academy Award-winning actor Roberto Benigni as Geppetto, the old woodcarver whose puppet creation, Pinocchio, magically comes to life with dreams of becoming a real boy. Easily led astray, Pinocchio (nine-year-old Federico Ielapi) tumbles from one misadventure to another as he is tricked, kidnapped and chased by bandits through a wonderful world full of imaginative creatures – from the belly of a giant fish, to the Land Of Toys and the Field Of Miracles.
Netizens seem to be eagerly waiting for this movie to be released. Most of the reactions to this trailer have been on the positive side, let’s take a look:
