When we talk about Bollywood icons, Madhuri Dixit is a name that is bound to come up. The legendary actress has been one of the most influential figures of the industry since her debut in the 80s. Madhuri fans can rejoice as the actress is set to make her mark in a brand new medium – Netflix!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Madhuri Dixit has signed on an untitled Netflix series. This is not a small project by the looks of it. We also know that it is helmed by the biggest producer in Bollywood, Karan Johar. Fans can expect the classic Karan Johar style of direction as his media company, Dharma Productions is closely attached to the project.
The series will not be another glitzy, glamorous Bollywood project, but will be a suspense family drama that reflects the lives of people working in the entertainment industry.
New York based writer, Sri Rao, is part of the project as well. You may be familiar with some of his work such as What Goes On, The Black Widow (not the Marvel one), General Hospital: Night Shift, and the Sidharth Malthora and Katrina Kaif starrer, Baar Baar Dekho. However, this will be the first time he gets to collaborate with the Bollywood icon Madhuri.
Speaking of jumping on the digital streaming platform, Madhuri shared,
“I’ve been working in films for decades now and facing the camera has always been one of my greatest joys. But this is the first time I’ll be working on a series, and I’m both excited and nervous. It will be a completely new experience, because while you have to be judicious when telling a story on film, you have the luxury of time in a series.”
