A madrassa teacher in Basirpur, Punjab, has been caught red-handed molesting a young girl – and the whole sickening act was captured on video!
The viral clip, which has exploded across social media, shows Qari Asad, a so-called “religious scholar,” brazenly putting his hand on a terrified little girl’s thigh as she tries to study. The footage is so disturbing, it’s hard to watch – but impossible to ignore.
Furious Pakistanis are demanding blood. “This filthy mullah should be caught and hanged in the square,” one user fumed. Another slammed the hypocrisy of religious figures who “object to mourning processions but commit such vile acts with innocent children.”
Police in Basirpur wasted no time and have arrested Qari Asad, but the public isn’t satisfied. Outrage is boiling over, with calls for harsh punishment and a crackdown on abuse in religious schools. The video continues to circulate, fueling a firestorm of anger and disgust.
The incident in Basirpur is the latest in a long line of abuse scandals plaguing Pakistan’s religious seminaries.
Despite their role in providing free education, madrassas have repeatedly been linked to sexual and physical abuse, with teachers often shielded by religious authority and community silence.
Recent reports show that child sexual abuse in madrassas is widespread but rarely punished. In the first half of 2024 alone, over 1,600 cases of child abuse were reported nationwide, with religious teachers frequently named as perpetrators.
Many cases are quietly settled, with families pressured to forgive abusers, and convictions are rare due to legal loopholes and clerical influence.
High-profile cases—like the release of a teacher in Tandlianwala after molesting a boy, or the conviction of a cleric in Mansehra only after public outrage—highlight the systemic lack of accountability.
Calls for reform and stricter oversight have so far been ignored, leaving vulnerable children at continued risk.
As for the Basirpur incident, we can only ask: Will justice be served? Or will this be just another case swept under the rug?
