Malala Yousafzai has always been vocal about women following their dreams, and in a recent interview, the Noble Peace prize winner encouraged young girls to pick up a cricket bat and just give it a try.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Malala urged young women to believe in themselves and said that they should never be discouraged from playing sports because of their gender.

“Even today, when we see women cricket players playing in this stadium, they are sending a message to all girls out there that they can be in sports, they can be players, they can play any sport they want.”

She said that women all over the world are changing history and sports is no exception. Malala hopes that we don’t limit women from dreaming and achieving their goals. She encouraged them to play sports, and if they enjoy it they should go for it.

“I want to tell all girls, try it, and if you enjoy it, go for it. We are there to support you.”

Previously, the Pakistani activist stressed the importance of sports in an Instagram post. For her, playing sports helped give her the assertiveness to compete, as well as be resilient in her fight for girls’ education and equality. So, she wants other girls to participate in sports too.
