The eagerly awaited web series, Fatima Jinnah, has given us a tantalizing first glimpse of Ruttanbai Petit, later known as Ruttie Jinnah, played by the enchanting Mamya Shahjaffar.

In a brief yet captivating clip, Mamya Shahjaffar is seen donning a short retro hairdo with curls, reminiscent of the era, and looking resplendent in a blood-red backless dress. The teaser unfolds with Mamya holding a rose, offering viewers a glimpse into the essence of her portrayal of Ruttie Jinnah.

Accompanying the teaser is a poignant caption that introduces Mamya’s character as the rose of Bombay. The caption features a quote by Indian journalist Sheela Reddy, stating,

Jinnah couldn’t stop his tears when she was laid to rest. She was the only woman he ever truly loved.

Further delving into Ruttie’s role and her history with Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the caption unveils the intriguing details of her secret Nikkah to Mr. Jinnah. South Asian historians consider their romantic relationship as one of the most infamous love stories from the Indian Subcontinent.

Ruttie Jinnah played a pivotal role in the Independence of both Pakistan and India from the Colonial Rule of the British Empire. However, the teaser hints at a strained and mysterious camaraderie between her and Mohtrama Fatima Jinnah, shedding light on an unexplored aspect of their relationship.

The upcoming series, directed by Danial K Afzal, promises to unravel the intricacies of Fatima Jinnah’s life through various eras. Mamya Shahjaffar’s Ruttie Jinnah will share the screen with the charismatic Aamir Qureshi, portraying Muhammad Ali Jinnah (Quaid-e-Azam) in the first season.

Structured to depict Fatima Jinnah during her 30s and the pre-partition era (portrayed by Sundus Farhan), her 50s and the Independence era (portrayed by Sajal Aly), and her 70s during the post-partition era (portrayed by Samiya Mumtaz), the series promises a comprehensive exploration of the iconic figure.

Additionally, the show is set to feature appearances by historical personalities such as Allama Iqbal, Liaquat Ali Khan, and Rana Liaquat Hussain, among others.
