Just recently, Rawalpindi Police set up a Harassment Reporting Unit (HRU) which allows women to lodge complaints from their homes. The unit will be led by women in force and Maya Ali is glad to hear that.
According to the reports, the HRU will protect the identity of victims and will also provide ease to them in lodging complaints on call or via WhatsApp. The Harassment Report Unit is comprised of all female officers.
Harassment cases in the country are on a surge. Marketplaces, offices, public transport, educational institutions, even homes aren’t safe these days. And this initiative taken by Assistant Superintendent of Police Amna Baig, is very much needed in these tough times.
