This year’s Lux Style Awards (LSA) nominations have left many perplexed because of seeming gender discrimination. Not a single female musician has been nominated among 82 nominations in four categories for music awards.
Pop star Meesha Shafi was the first one to notice this discrimination and stood up for all her fellow female singers being left out. The Muazaz Sarif crooner shared a detailed note on her social media account while tagging all female singers, including Hadiqa Kiani, Shae Gill, Naseebo Lal, and many more.
She spoke about the blatant absence of women singers from the list and the double standards associated with the brand that sells female-oriented products.
However, a social media user highlighted that the revealed list is not that of the nominations as it is a submissions list.
Taking to her stories once again, the Hot Mango Chutney Sauce singer questioned why it was not mentioned on the LSA list if this truly is the case.
She also remarked that many of her male colleagues who had made it to the list had never submitted anything.
Soon after Meesha Shafi’s observation, Zeb Bangash also chimed in and demanded accountability from LSA management.
All the women singers joined forces and re-shared Meesha’s post on their respective accounts in a show of agreement and questioned the LSA’s hypocrisy.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, the list of nominees that has emerged has given people another reason to be upset.
