Songstress Meesha Shafi lent her soulful voice to Amazon Prime India’s new web series Hush Hush which stars veteran Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla.
On Sunday, Amazon Prime India dropped the song Mere Mahru for Hush Hush. Written by Sameer Rahat and composed by Arjit Datta, the song features the lovely voice of Meesha Shafi.
The music video opens with Juhi Chawla working out. The video also focused on the other female leads of the show — Soha Ali Khan, Kritika Kamra, Karishma Tanna, Shahana Goswami, and others.
Meesha Shafi’s iconic voice gives life to the emotional lyrics of the song, which aptly described the theme of the web series about four women bonded by secrets.
Hush Hush’s director, Tanuja Chandra, posted the song on her Instagram, thanking Meesha Shafi for her soulful rendition, and labeled the song the “beating heart of the series”.
She also revealed that it was the Pakistani veteran actress Sania Saeed who had helped her get in touch with the Muaziz Saarif songstress.
In response, Meesha Shafi thanked Tanuja Chandra for the opportunity in her Instagram story: “Thank you for trusting me with this Tanuja Chandra. Arijit Datta, and Sameer Rahat it was an absolute pleasure to sing this most special song”.
Hush Hush follows the life of “four friends that find themselves hurling down a rabbit hole of lies, deceit and secrets after a dangerous encounter at a party. As their privileged and safe world turns upside down, the secrets become the reason to bond for their survival”.
The seven-episode web series is now available on the OTT platform.
