A fitting venue for the mindless?

Cowasjee Jehangir Institute of Psychiatry, which is also known as Giddu Bandar, is a mental asylum located in Hyderabad. Recently, in an attempt to disregard the government’s coronavirus policies, a wedding was held at the mental hospital.

According to available reports, more than 200 people were invited to the wedding and the SOPs were almost, if not completely, non-existent.

An employee at the mental institute reportedly made arrangements for the wedding which was attended by doctors, nurses, and other staff members. However, the mental institute’s in-charge says he was unaware of the party.

Calling them ‘allegations’, the person-in-charge further added that he will investigate the reports.

According to Section 144, the government has temporarily banned parks, wedding halls, and other public spaces to contain the spread of COVID-19. The lockdown has been extended till 15th August 2020 and everyone is advised to take precautionary measures.

Not only did the wedding at this mental asylum ignore all SOPs, but it also shed light on the fact that people are still taking this pandemic lightly.
