Some social media interactions can turn into fairytales and that’s what happened when Sonia Elizabeth from Mexico and Muhammad Amir from Karachi met online.

On Tuesday, a Mexican woman named Sonia Elizabeth tied the knot with a Karachite. The couple met each other on social media, and following numerous interactions, they fell in love with each other.

For the sake of her love, she flew all the way from Mexico and got married to the love of her life in Karachi. She also embraced Islam and was named Zainab. The couple later tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Karachi.

But not everyone you meet on social media is a genuine person. Some cases have turned out to be scams. Recently, the cyber crime wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Rawalpindi chapter arrested a ‘foreign national’ for looting a citizen after he proposed him on social media.

The FIA spokesperson said that a Nigerian citizen was arrested for looting a Swat citizen who pretended to be a woman from United States. He promised to marry the Swat citizen and reportedly demanded money from him to make investments in Pakistan.

It is being reported that the ‘foreigner’ demanded $1.5 million and after sending millions of rupees to nine different accounts, he realized that he was scammed. He contacted FIA and registered a complaint, after which the Nigerian man was arrested from Peshawar while being an agent of the alleged US-based woman.
