Money Heist Season 5: Here’s Everything You Need to Know

Read more to find out details about the release date, BTS photos, and much more!

Back in 2015, when we thought Narcos would be the only non-English Netflix series to make a noise, we were proven wrong. May 2017 marked the beginning of La Casa De Papel, or more famously known as Money Heist. The Spanish Netflix series broke all the records for a non-English show. And now, the crime-thriller series will meet its grand finale.

Before we continue with this post, we would like to inform our readers that this post contains spoilers from season 4 and some predictions for season 5. So if you haven’t watched the last season yet, read at your own risk!

Season 4

Of course, a little recap to refresh our minds might help us in speculating what we can expect in season 5. The 4th season of Money Heist was released on April 3rd, 2020, and is comprised of 8 episodes. The season ended with Nairobi getting killed off, the gang losing their cool, and the Professor getting arrested. And we were left wanting to see more.

Season 5

We’ve heard about Money Heist renewing for season 5 numerous times, but the news was first confirmed in August 2020. In a Tweet made by the official Netflix account on the platform, they also revealed that this will be our last run with the show and its characters.

Take a look at the post here:

Here’s what Álex Pina, the creator behind the show, revealed what the next season holds in store for us. He said:

We’ve spent almost a year thinking about how to break up the band. How to put the Professor on the ropes. How to get into situations that are irreversible for many characters. The result is the fifth part of La Casa de Papel. The war reaches its most extreme and savage levels, but it is also the most epic and exciting season.

Earlier in May, Pina had confirmed the unofficial renewal but could not reveal anything further because:

Netflix will put a bomb in my house.

Álex Rodrigo, one of the directors of the show, also explained that he wants to end the show in style – the team plans on meeting the audience’s expectations and leave everyone impressed.

BTS Photos

While the production processes have not revealed much of the BTS shenanigans, luckily for us, some paparazzi have followed the cast and kept us all up-to-date. Let’s take a look at some of the BTS photos of the Money Heist team:

Speculations, speculations! What does all this blood mean?

Cast Members

Pedro Alonso aka Berlin posted a statement that confirmed the audience’s speculations that we might see more of him in season 5. While Berlin was killed off in season 2, we’ve been seeing him in flashbacks. In a post in July 2020, he wrote:

I just had my hair cut, tried on clothes. They all wore masks. That at times seemed like the Pentagon. Or one of Spielberg about meetings in who knows what phase. The fact is that soon I will be him again. It’s called Berlin and it’s pure love. Sometimes.

Another character that has been killed off, Nairobi, is listed in season 5’s cast members. This too was linked with flashbacks of her past.

Itziar Ituño aka Lisbon also took to her social media account to reveal she was working on the set of Money Heist.

Najwa Nimri aka Alicia Sierra (the pregnant cop) also posted pictures and videos from the set. Take a look at her Twitter thread here:

New Additions

As of now, we know of 2 new cast members; Miguel Ángel Silvestre and José Manuel Seda. Both of the actors are extremely excited to be a part of this show. Speaking about the possibilities for their characters, Alex said:

We always try to bring in charismatic, intelligent and brilliant opponents. In this case, from a genre of pure war, we also look for characters in which the intelligence can be like that of the Professor.

Taking to his Instagram account, Miguel wrote:

Mamaaaa! How lucky I am? Maximo of joy!

José Manuel also took to his social media accounts to thank the team for this opportunity. He wrote:

Happy to share the wonderful gift I received on my birthday: my participation in the final season of @LaCasaDePapelTV one of those series that when you see them, you dream of being in it. Thanks to @VancouverMed and @NetflixES.

Release Date and Number of Episodes

The final season of Money Heist will have 2 additional episodes, taking the total number of episodes to 10. No official announcement has been made on the release date as of yet. But some netizens believe that it will be on-air by the summer of 2021.

What are we expecting?

From Alicia turning out to be Berlin’s ex-wife to the Professor planning his own arrest all along, there are a lot of conspiracy theories circling around season 5 of Money Heist, but we believe it’s best to wait and watch where the grand finale leads us. How do you want the show to end? Will it garner more than the 65 million views it did for season 4? Share your views in the comments section.
