Munni Badnaam, a Bollywood item song featuring Salman Khan and Malaika Arora, has been added to the list of songs for schools in the UK. The list was made as a guide for the student’s curriculum. The item song has been included in a long list containing other songs from around the world.
The Department for Education published a new Model Music Curriculum. This was developed to help the kids in the UK in accessing high-quality music. The press release reads:
This chronology has been developed through recommendations from colleagues across
the music education sector and the expert panel. Many pieces can be found on Classical
100, BBC Ten Pieces and at the English Folk Dance and Song Society. Many other
sources of this repertoire are available.
In addition to this, the curriculum also included a complete list of all the songs. Many Indian songs have been added. However, we did not expect to see an item song making it to the list. Let’s take a look:
