The Dastaan singer has left the internet divided after announcing his farewell to the industry for ‘religious reasons’.

Artists Natasha Baig and Anoushey Ashraf just shared their two cents on singer Abdullah Qureshi’s decision to quit the music industry for ‘religious reasons’, and netizens are split over the entire predicament.

Yesterday, the Dastaan singer bid farewell to the music industry in his Instagram post, stating that he will not be doing music as a full-time profession. The 29-year-old clarified that his decision is ‘purely because of religious reasons’.

His peer, Natasha Baig, disagreed and said that if people want to quit music, it is their choice but they shouldn’t demonize the entire industry for ‘religious reasons’.

She too posted a lengthy Instagram note about ‘musicians/actors’ who leave the industry ‘in the name of awakening’.

The Sadqay Tumhare actress and Natasha Baig, got a lot of flak online for their stance. Many people online supported Abdullah Qureshi’s decision and believe all forms of music are ‘haram’.

Anoushey Ashraf’s Rebuttal

Not one to stay quiet, Anoushey Ashraf responded to the online comments and gave netizens a piece of her mind.

Later on, the actress took to her Instagram story to write a lengthy note about the concept of music and generalizing it as ‘haram’ is wrong.

Abdullah Qureshi is not the first person to leave the industry over a religious awakening. There have been many others, most notable of which was the late singer/songwriter Junaid Jamshed. Others include actor Hamza Ali Abbasi who left to focus on Islamic teachings.
