Nintendo has just dropped the first trailer for the highly-anticipated film Super Mario Bros. which is based on the popular, classic, and iconic videogame of the same name.
Everyone’s favorite mustachioed Italian plumber has been brought back to life in a first exclusive look at the Chris Pratt and Jack Black-starrer animated film.
Here is the trailer that was released during a Nintendo Direct announcement on Thursday:
The trailer opens with the main villain, Bowser (played by Jack Black), and his army of Koopa Troopas invading the Ice Kingdom that is full of penguins. The scene then shifted to introduce the iconic Italian plumber flying through a green pipe and entering the Mushroom Kingdom. Chris Pratt’s Mario interacts with actor Keegan-Michael Key’s ‘Toad’ as the two make their way to Princess Peach’s castle.
Super Mario Bros. is directed by Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath with Universal Pictures. Its film’s cast includes intriguing choices — Charlie Day as Mario’s brother Luigi. Queen’s Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, and comedian Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong.

Super Mario is one of the most popular video games of all time. Since its launch in 1985, the Nintendo game went on to etch its name into global pop culture.
