The city of Ahmedabad in India is prepping up to host the President of the United States and the First Lady. The US President, or POTUS, Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump are set to visit India on February 24 and 25. As part of the preparations, the city’s municipal corporation has closed down all paan (betel nut) shops around the airport circle in order to ensure that the city is clean.

POTUS will be meeting the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his home state of Gujarat. In order to make a good impression and not have people spitting paan everywhere, Modi has ordered to close all paan shops in the area.

Notices have been pasted outside various paan shops mentioning that if the shop-owners try to remove the seal, legal action will be taken. The initiative has been taken to make sure that all the roads and walls around the Ahmedabad airport remain spick and span.

According to The Times of India, an AMC official stated that customers used to spit paan masala and throw cigarette butts everywhere, making it hard to keep the area clean. If the shops remained open, it would have been a difficult job cleaning the area in time for the POTUS’s visit.

That’s not all. It appears that Modi is a fan of Trump’s big wall around the Mexican border as the Indian Prime Minister has erected a wall in the city to keep the slum areas out of sight for the US President.

Trump and his wife Melania would be visiting the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad as they will also take part in a roadshow with Modi. Both the leaders are expected to inaugurate a new cricket stadium in Motera and address a gathering crowd. It remains to be seen how the visit goes. Stay posted for more updates.
