Just when you think India would tone down its deeply problematic ethno-centric politics following the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meeting. The Indian Home Minister openly declared that Muslim refugees will be persecuted in India. Yes, this man literally accepted that.
In an address in Kolkata, a Bengali city the Indian Home Minister said that while efforts would be made to provide citizenship to refugees while making efforts to force Muslim refugees to leave
“Today I want to assure Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist and Christian refugees, you will not be forced to leave India by the Centre. Don’t believe rumors. Before NRC, we will bring Citizenship Amendment Bill, which will ensure these people get Indian citizenship,”
This Minister openly announced his government’s policy for persecuting Muslim refugees en masse. We can judge from this video how ‘reliable’ Indian claims of having no intention of ethnic cleansing in Kashmir are. Especially when no less than the Indian Home Minister is rationalizing the religious persecution of refugees.

Is this even legal?
Is it even legal to announce religious persecution of refugees according to the Human Rights Charter?
This raises the debate of how secular is the Indian Constitution. According to the Indian Constitution, it’s illegal to tell refugees that only the Muslims among them will be forced to leave India.
how do you make muslims religious persecuted minority in Islamic republics, that is pak, afg, bangladesh. India is secular but they are not that's why their minority religious persecuted group are given refugee here, if talking about myanmar refugee then muslim will be there.

Non-Indian Muslim refugees pass through Islamic nations and make a beeline for India. Others are Indians. We are not evicting muslim Indians, are we?
So do not plow your furrow of hate here. Go ruminate or fulminate.

Others sounded the alarm. If this isn’t open planning for ethnic cleansing, then what is?
How is the Home Monster allowed to speak like this? Is it not against the constitution to tell refugees that only the Muslims among them will be forced to leave India by the govt? What is going on? These are the seeds of ethnic cleansing being sown in the open for all to see! https://t.co/YQSPV0Oj0s

This is fucked up. Now our home minister is openly excluding a specific religion community from NRC. HOW is a Hindu refugee is different from a Muslim refugee. They are REFUGEE. Let that sink in.

Is this man throwing shade on his own country?
There are many peaceful countries they can choose from, why do they want india since they call it lynchistan anyway

Some people were just concerned about the backlash Indian expats living abroad would receive.
what about qatar, oman ,uae ,dubai, malaysia etc etc..if u guys dont stop this madness;hindus living in all these countries will face extreme pressure..get ready..
— ipredator (@Saikarthik1jeg) October 1, 2019
Then there was some ‘Trump rhetoric’ being thrown around.
did they go illegaly there? are they illegali citizens there? if anybody comes to india legally stays with legal procedure they are most welcome. as simple as that.
— Aagneya (@Aagneya2) October 1, 2019
Some people actually tried to rationalize those disgusting remarks.
A Hindu refugee is different from a Muslim refugee because a Hindu looks at India as his saviour, the only majority Hindu country in the world where as there are umpteen Muslim and Christian countries in the world for a Muslim
— TweetVeer (@TVK_2018) October 1, 2019
How is this statement communal. It is the most inclusive and Human Rights sensitive statement made by @AmitShah . Religious minorities in the subcontinent facing persecution in their countries must be given full Indian citizenship.

Nothing new. Hindus can’t go to aangladesh or Pakistan can they? Muslims can! Ergo, Hindus cannot be deported from a Hindu Nation. Country and nation are different!

Meanwhile, Hindutva Bhakts really don’t care and welcomed this open confession.
We will make India a Hindu state and there is nothing no one can do about it.
