Just when you think India would tone down its deeply problematic ethno-centric politics following the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meeting. The Indian Home Minister openly declared that Muslim refugees will be persecuted in India. Yes, this man literally accepted that.
In an address in Kolkata, a Bengali city the Indian Home Minister said that while efforts would be made to provide citizenship to refugees while making efforts to force Muslim refugees to leave
“Today I want to assure Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist and Christian refugees, you will not be forced to leave India by the Centre. Don’t believe rumors. Before NRC, we will bring Citizenship Amendment Bill, which will ensure these people get Indian citizenship,”

This Minister openly announced his government’s policy for persecuting Muslim refugees en masse. We can judge from this video how ‘reliable’ Indian claims of having no intention of ethnic cleansing in Kashmir are. Especially when no less than the Indian Home Minister is rationalizing the religious persecution of refugees.

Is this even legal?
Is it even legal to announce religious persecution of refugees according to the Human Rights Charter?
This raises the debate of how secular is the Indian Constitution. According to the Indian Constitution, it’s illegal to tell refugees that only the Muslims among them will be forced to leave India.

Others sounded the alarm. If this isn’t open planning for ethnic cleansing, then what is?

This is fucked up. Now our home minister is openly excluding a specific religion community from NRC. HOW is a Hindu refugee is different from a Muslim refugee. They are REFUGEE. Let that sink in.

How is this statement communal. It is the most inclusive and Human Rights sensitive statement made by @AmitShah . Religious minorities in the subcontinent facing persecution in their countries must be given full Indian citizenship.

Nothing new. Hindus can’t go to aangladesh or Pakistan can they? Muslims can! Ergo, Hindus cannot be deported from a Hindu Nation. Country and nation are different!

Mr. Amitshah, a home minister of india must be persecuted before the international court of justice for having spoken hatred against Muslim community and called other religious bodies as refugees. Who the hell is he to make such non sense statement ? India has crossed 1.30 billion population from who he drew power. Shame on him. We should bring him down from the post of home minister.
He is talking about refugees. There is no place for Muslim Refugees in India.
