Official: Pakistani Cinemas To Release ‘Tenet’ on Eid ul Azha

The much anticipated movie gets its release date.

TENET

Christopher Nolan movies have long been considered fan favorites in Pakistan. The Dark KnightInceptionInterstellar, and Dunkirk are all Nolan films that were a huge success at the Pakistani box office. It stands to reason that now, after almost three years, Nolan is back with another movie that is bound to break all records. TENET is all set to release in Pakistani cinemas on Eid-ul-Adha 2020.

Much like all of his other movies, TENET is filled with action, adventure, and mind-bending thrill. The Robert Pattinson and John David Washington movie was going to release in mid-July, but due to the on-going pandemic, it has now been moved to the end of July.

Here’s what Warner Bros. Pictures Group’ chairman has to say:

We’re especially thrilled, in this complex and rapidly changing environment, to be bringing Christopher Nolan’s ‘Tenet,’ a global tentpole of jaw-dropping size, scope and scale, to theaters around the world on July 31.

It’s been longer than any of us could’ve imagined since we’ve seen a movie on the big screen, and to acknowledge Chris’ fans as we count down to TENET’s opening day

Plot and Trailer

First look at the trailer, and most of us are already confused. And as if the trailer wasn’t mystifying enough, here’s its official synopsis as described by WB:

John David Washington is the new Protagonist in Christopher Nolan’s original sci-fi action spectacle “Tenet.”

Armed with only one word—Tenet—and fighting for the survival of the entire world, the Protagonist journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold in something beyond real time.

Not time travel. Inversion.

We can’t ignore the fact that John David Washington’s character is named Protagonist. How in the world is that a proper noun? Could that be hinting towards the fact that this is a time-travel movie on story-telling?

While Robert Pattinson on many different occasions has revealed that there is no time-traveling, it is evident from the trailer that there might be some time-bending thrill going on. Seems like a classic Christopher Nolan movie debate has already begun.

The trailer does show some sort of time-altering realities where the flow of time is slowed down to change the future, but we guess the writers have some explanation for that.

It is extremely rare that a trailer leaves us in suspense and drives us to the cinemas, but when it comes to Cristopher Nolan films, the confusion doesn’t surprise us.

Let’s take a look at the trailer:

When is Tenet Releasing in Pakistan?

Hammad Chaudhry, film producer and one of the people behind HKC Distributors, has announced that TENET will be released in cinemas across Pakistan on Eid-Ul-Adha.

So it’s safe to say that Pakistani cinemas will re-open around that time, and we are already excited!

Previously, cinema halls had been ordered shut in light of the coronavirus situation. This seems like the first official confirmation of Pakistani cinema houses opening up in the run up to Bakra Eid.
