As digital streaming platforms are all the rage it’s about time Pakistan got onboard with the idea. While Pakistan already offers ‘iflix’ courtesy of PTCL, we need our own digital entertainment portal too.

Although Nashpati Prime and Vidly do offer some great web series, they aren’t really big platforms. With Pakistani serials on Indian streaming platforms like Zee5, we know there’s a market for Pakistani content.

Now Malaysia and Pakistan are teaming up to create Pakistan’s first digital entertainment portal. Malaya United Films is collaborating with Entertainment Pvt Ltd (Pakistan) to launch a digital entertainment platform. Malaya United Films even tweeted about the news a few months ago.

“Pakistan’s First OTT Platform. Fresh and New Pakistani Programs for the whole family Entertainment.”

Looks like these plans were underway since as early as March 2020.

They even held a competition for Pakistani filmmakers back in June. Is that where some of the original Urdu content will come from?

The platform ‘Mr. Mufe‘ will offer drama series, cooking shows, health shows, telefilms, children’s programs, sports shows, and much more. So they’re keeping their content G-rated.

Here’s the best part. According to the Daily Times, all content on the platform will be free for Pakistani consumers.

From an economic standpoint, Mr. Mufe will help the local industry by providing royalty payments to millions of locals involved in the production of content for the platform.
