Pakistan’s first rap reality show, Rap Icon Pakistan, is set to premiere later this month, with a new teaser offering a first look at the competition and its star-studded judging panel.

Producers have released a preview of Rap Icon Pakistan, showing judges Talha Anjum and Bohemia alongside clips of contestants performing on stage and facing off in rap battles.

The season promo confirms that the show will begin airing on May 24 on YouTube. The release comes later than initially expected, as the show was previously slated to launch around Eid ul Fitr.

The competition will feature 12 emerging rappers battling for the title of Rap Icon over the course of 10 episodes.

Contestants will take part in a series of rap-focused challenges built around different styles and themes, with eliminations taking place throughout the season before the finalists compete in the grand finale.

The project aims to discover the country’s next major rap star, building on the rising popularity of hip-hop in Pakistan and the mainstream success of artists like Talha Anjum and Bohemia.

While the format is new for Pakistan, rap-based reality competitions have previously found success abroad.
