PEMRA Issues Warning To Drama Serial ‘Tere Bin’ for Portrayal of Inexplicit Content

The regulatory office asked makers to remove ‘inappropriate content’ immediately.

The Geo Entertainment’s blockbuster drama serial Tere Bin has now irked the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) as well after the chaotic and cliffhanging episode 46 of the serial. The drama created an uproar on social media after a clickbait promo hinted at marital rape between the protagonists of the serial, Murtasim and Meerub.

Although the makers of the serial after multiple complaints from social media warriors who raised their voices against marital rape and its negative depiction on television edited the whole content of the episode with pathetic voiceovers. But this immediate act didn’t satisfy the PEMRA and they issued a warning to the serial for the immediate removal of inappropriate content.

The press release stated,

Episode 47 of Geo Entertainment channel’s TV serial Tere Bin showed inappropriate content that clearly goes against the rules of PEMRA and that the 2015 electronic media regulations.

It further asked the makers to remove or hide the said content immediately and make sure that no similar content gets aired in any of their future episodes. And concluded by adding, “Strict action will be taken against the makers in case any other regulation is comprised next.”

Tere Bin is a very popular romantic drama television series produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi under the banner 7th Sky Entertainment. Directed by Siraj ul Haq, it aired from 28 December 2022 on Geo TV.

The series stars Wahaj Ali and Yumna Zaidi in the main roles. It gained popularity rapidly due to the lead couple’s chemistry and its gripping storyline.
