If you thought the Lahori barber was bad for using broken glass and a hammer for trimming, wait till you hear about India’s viral “spit massage” in Uttar Pradesh.
A barber in Ghaziabad has been arrested after a video surfaced online showing him mixing his saliva with facial cream to literally give his customer a “Hawk Tuah“ massage at Level Up Salon. The incident, captured on the salon’s CCTV and widely shared on social media, led to swift police action.
In the video, the barber, identified as 24-year-old Arshad Ali, is seen sprinkling water on a customer’s face before a shave. He then spits on the shaving cream in his hands and mixes it before applying it to the customer’s face.
Following public outrage and the viral spread of the footage, Ghaziabad police registered a case and arrested Ali for his unhygienic and dangerous act. He has been charged under section 271 for spreading infection of a deadly disease and section 272 for intentionally spreading infection under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Authorities have emphasized the importance of hygiene in public services and assured strict action against such violations.
It is also worth noting that saliva or spit does NOT improve or do anything to shaving cream, so to all the barbers out there – STOP IT.
