While Rabia Butt turned heads with her performance as ‘Nargis’ in Pehli Si Mohabbat, with all that attention came trolls.
In an interview with BBC Urdu, the model-cum-actress talked about playing Nargis and the love and hate that came with it.
She talked about how despite coming from the city’s infamous red-light area, Nargis is a complex character. A refreshing difference from the usual ‘good/bad woman’ dynamic we see onscreen.
”Nargis was a very complex character, showcasing a girl coming from that kind of area already has a risk factor in it but again it was a solid character. It is also the reality of our society, it’s not easy to brush the realities under the carpet. Playing such character that too a mother of a same age group girl involved a lot of risk factor but still I chose it.”

Despite playing a supporting role, Rabia Butt has garnered widespread praise for the character. Talking about the success of the character she said;
“I had no idea that it will be such a big success. I’m still clueless about it but immense love of public makes me more humble and grounded. If I’m gaining success I should be more humble in return.”
However, with anything that gets a lot of hype, both Nargis and Rabia Butt were subjected to trolling. Talking about social media trolling, the Aangan actor said;
“There is an option to ignore or move ahead after seeing trolls but I don’t choose that, I will respond, of course, it’s not possible to reply to every one but, if something is bothering me, I will respond. It’s easy to bad-mouth but that’s not the answer to everything, your words have power utter them wisely.”
