Jal was one of the most iconic bands in Pakistan. Consisting of megastars like Atif Aslam, Gohar Mumtaz and Farhan Saeed, the band ruled the charts in the early 2000s.

Every 90s kid, or now as the new generation likes to call ‘boomers’, rocked out to tracks like ‘Aadat’. Even the millennials have one or two Jal songs in their guilty-pleasure playlist.

After the departure of Atif Aslam, Farhan Saeed partnered with Gohar Mumtaz and managed to carry the band and still produce excellent music for the die-hard fans.

However, sadly in recent times, Farhan too has parted ways with Jal and the band is pretty much finished.

The former singer/songwriter started appearing in TV dramas and left fans with no explanation as to why he left the iconic band. Fans finally got some answers as Farhan revealed why he decided to part ways with Jal.

What happened?

Appearing as guest on ARY News program Har Lamha Purjosh, he said:

“I worked with Jal band for 10 years which is a long time period. As you evolve with time and age, your preferences, interests and musical taste changes. After leaving the band, I released my own songs which were different from Jal and I came into acting as well. It’s pretty obvious why I left it. I wanted to do certain things which I couldn’t do while I was in the band,” the singer said. He went onto say that being associated with a band required a lot of commitment and he was unable to do anything of on his own.
