Saba Qamar: ‘Willing To Play Maryam Nawaz Sharif On Screen’

Saba Qamar - Maryam Nawaz

Pakistani starlet Saba Qamar has never disappointed with her characterizations. Whether it was her political satire days with Ready Steady Go or her recent role in Ghabrana Nahi Hai. Now she suggests she’s willing to play Maryam Nawaz too.

While there is a lot of hype surrounding Mehwish Hayat playing Benazir Bhutto onscreen, Saba Qamar also voiced her interest in playing a politician. In an interview for ‘The Chay Show‘, the Hindi Medium star shared how while she’d prefer to play Benazir Bhutto, she’s open to playing the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President, Maryam Nawaz.

“I would love to play a politician on screen! … I think we can make a brilliant biopic on Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. I am also willing to play Maryam Nawaz Sharif on the big screen. I feel I can do justice to it.”

So where does this interest comes from? Her desire to play multifacted roles and complex characters.

“I am excited about essaying a politician because their lives have so many layers. They are a different person when engaging with the public, different when they are home with their families, and someone else when they are with their peers. It’s fascinating. Politicians are no less than actors. So, I do think it’s relatable.”
