We’ve seen an intense uproar n the Pakistani media industry ever since PTV’s decision to air Diriliş: Ertuğrul. While those who are watching the series can’t stop talking about how great it is, some celebrities are taken aback by the fact that Pakistani shows have never gotten the same amount of love and support. And now, veteran actress Sahiba Afzal shared her stance on the show.
Sahiba Afzal is a Pakistani film actress, who worked in the industry in the 1990s. Although she stopped working after her marriage to John Rambo (the Pakistani one, just in case you were confused), she has been an active social media user.

The Haathi Mere Saathi actress took to her Instagram account to express her opinions on Diriliş: Ertuğrul. According to her, this show has proven that the Pakistani public yearns for quality content, with distinct characters.
Pakistanis have proven that they want to watch strong content, covered women, and brave men.

Even her husband, Jan Rambo, came forward in support of the show. He says it’s his wish to see the Pakistani media industry to come up with something as grand as Ertugrul. According to the Guest House actor, the film and drama makers here hand out similar roles to the actors and typecast them.

It’s good to see strong and sound arguments coming from famous celebrities. Their opinions and views might change how the media industry works in Pakistan. Maybe once the dust settles after this debate for and against foreign content, the industry will actually think of changing its practices for the better.
