Salman Iqbal Compares Mere Pass Tum Ho to Game of Thrones, Gets Trolled Instead

Wait what?

salman iqbal

Salman Iqbal compares the 24-episode Pakistani Drama “Meray Paas Tum Ho” to the legendary 73-episode American medieval fiction series Game of Thrones, and Twitter is not having it.

You might assume that the CEO of ARY Digital may have been speaking out of turn, and even the internet agrees. However, let’s try to comprehend why he said what he said.

Lets take a look at his comments first:

The Most Hated Ending?

We have all known Game of Thrones as the show that left all of its fans angry and frustrated with its finale episode. Pakistani Drama “Meray Paas Tum Ho” faced a similar backlash for its ending too.

Perhaps the fan base was different, but the ending of both the shows has a happily never after.

Unwanted Drama

Both Game of Thrones and Meray Paas Tum Ho have some unwanted and exaggerated drama beats. Although Game of Thrones has less of it, given that Pakistani dramas already have an elevated version of overacting, let’s try and give it a break.

Death of The Helpless Queen

The death of Danish (a helpless queen, if you will) might be the real cause of comparison between the two shows. Maybe, the CEO of ARY sees Danny (the Mad Queen of Westeros) in Danish? Its an easy comparison to make!

Viewership

Before all the GoT fans end up sending this scribe some death-threats, hear me out! Everyone and I mean E V E R Y O N E knows what the show is about. If they haven’t seen it religiously, then they know through memes, or perhaps the famous CBA reviews. We know it’s nowhere near the remarkable number of 10 million viewers of the HBO show GoT, but who cares about views?

Hippity hoppity hype

If we only consider Pakistan, both the shows received the same hype. Whether that hype was negative or positive is another debate. No publicity is bad publicity.

Speaking of publicity, here’s what Twitter had to say about Salman Iqbal’s remarks:

Trolling or not, we think this tweet might be on point:

To each their own

Desi peeps are known to live in their own protective bubble, so let’s let them carry on as long as they can. With time comes realization, and perhaps then, Meray Paas Tum Ho won’t be compared with Game of Thrones anymore.

Do you think Salman Iqbal’s comparison of the two shows is justified? Sound off in the comments below.
