Sarmad Khoosat and Saba Qamar’s Kamli Makes It to International Film Festival Rotterdam

Award-winning masterpiece is now captivating audiences worldwide.

Pakistani film Kamli by the ace director Sarmad Khoosat, after winning hearts at the local cinemas, made Pakistan proud at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) 2023 by having its European premiere.

Kamli is a story based on love, loss, and cloaked secrets. This movie is “a love letter to all the women out there” as it showcases a woman’s struggle to rebel against societal conventions and unspoken challenges.

Kamli – Saba Qamar Zaman

It is directed by one of the most talented directors in Pakistan, Sarmad Sultan Khoosat. The film stars Saba Qamar Zaman, Sania Saeed, Nimra Bucha, Omair Rana, and Hamaza Khawaja in the lead roles.

Khoosat’s directorial film was released in theatres on 3 June 2022. The magical feminocentric romantic thriller Kamli won its viewers and film critics over with its brilliant cinematography, mesmerizing soundtrack, and symbolic storyline.

Sarmad Sultan Khoosat is a director, actor, producer, and screenwriter who has directed some of Pakistan’s most celebrated and highly-rated TV series, such as Humsafar and Shehr-e-Zaat.

In 2017 he starred in the feature film Manto, based on the career of writer Saadat Hasan Manto, which helped to spearhead his career, and he was awarded Pakistan’s Pride of Performance Award for his outstanding contribution to the country’s film and television industry.
