Sarmad Khoosat’s ‘Kamli’ Selected for UK Film Festival

Another proud moment for Pakistani cinema.

Renowned filmmaker Sarmad Khoosat’s Kamli, starring Saba Qamar, is set to premiere in the United Kingdom (UK) at the UK Asian Film Festival.

The thought-provoking femicentric film has been selected for the Emerging Curators Awards at the upcoming festival.

This is another proud moment for Pakistan as our film industry continues to make great strides, gaining more recognition around the world.

Khoosat Films shared the news on its official Instagram page which read,

Kamli has been officially selected for the Emerging Curators Award at the UK Asian Film Festival!🤩 We are truly humbled and honoured by all the recognition and appreciation our film continues to receive.

The film continues to garner recognition and accolades worldwide. Recently, Sania Saeed was awarded ‘Best Actress’ at the Mosaic International South Asian Film Festival (MISAFF) held in Mississauga.

Kamli is a tale based on love, loss, and cloaked secrets. Directed by Sarmad Khoosat with producers Irfan and Kanwal Khoosat, the film featured a star-studded cast that included Saba Qamar Zaman, Sania Saeed, Nimra Bucha, Omair Rana, and Hamza Khawaja.

The film is “a love letter to all the women out there” as it showcases a woman’s struggle to rebel against societal conventions and unspoken challenges.

Khoosat’s directorial film was released in theatres on 3 June 2022. The magical femicentric romantic thriller Kamli won its viewers and film critics over with its brilliant cinematography, mesmerizing soundtrack, and symbolic storyline.
