Netizen call out Maryam Nawaz for copying Angelina Jolie with her “candid” photo op with the flood victims. One of the victims revealed the PML-N leader offered just a hug rather than provide help.
Recently, the vice president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Maryam Nawaz paid a visit to the flood-stricken city of Taunsa in Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab. The PML-N leader, along with her husband, Captain Safdar and a protocol/cavalcade comprising of 63 cars, met with the victims of the recent flash floods.
Wearing all black, Maryam Nawaz sympathized with the victims, talking to them about their suffering and giving one or two a hug. Maryam took to her social media account on Twitter to share a few “candid” clicks from her visit, tweeting “Heart-wrenching”.

The pictures are going viral on social media, but not for the right reasons. Netizens are calling out Maryam Nawaz’s visit a photo op and publicity stunt to gain support of the masses. And they are not wrong. In fact, one of the women Maryam Nawaz hugged, called her out. The women revealed that Maryam and her people offered no help or relief, and that the hug was purely for the cameras.
People are furious with PML-N vice president, calling her a “cheap copy of Angelina Jolie”. They have a point as Maryam Nawaz’s pictures, all the way from her outfit look eerily similar to Angelina Jolie when she came to visit Pakistan in 2010.
