It’s official! Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has finally responded to his daughter’s engagement rumors. It was reported over the weekend that his eldest daughter, Aqsa is to be engaged with Shaheen Afridi.
Shahid Afridi responds to engagement rumors
A day later, Shahid Afridi confirmed that the two families have come together after Shaheen’s family had approached him for his daughter’s hand in marriage. He said that discussions are ongoing. Taking to his Twitter handle, he wrote,
“Shaheen’s family approached my family for my daughter. Both families are in touch, matches are made in heaven, if Allah wills this match will be made too My prayers are with Shaheen for his continued success on and off the field.”

Shaheen afridi also confirmed the news and and thanked Lala for his prayers.

The proposal had been in discussion for a while
So far, both the families have responded to the rumors and they have reached an understating. Reports suggest that a formal engagement will be announced soon.
Speaking with the media, Shaheen Shah Afridi’s father Ayaz Khan said that the two families have longstanding relations and that Shahid Afridi’s family has agreed to the proposal. He said that a ceremony to formalize the engagement will be held in some time.
According to some reports, the proposal had been in discussion for the past two years. But since Shaheen is playing cricket and Aqsa is still studying, the engagement has not yet been formally announced.

Netizens reacted to the news differently. While some were really happy for the union and expressed surprise, others resorted to memes. Soon, a video went viral in which Shaheen Afridi can be seen bowling out Shahid Afridi from a previous PSL edition.
