Following the severe backlash on his Nikkah with Sadaf Kanwal, Shahroz Sabzwari has issued a video statement in defense of his family and newlywed life.
To put an end to the debate, Shahroz started off by saying,
“I am recording this video to defend myself and my family and I reserve the right to do so.”
Both Shahroz and Sadaf have become a target of intense criticism and public outrage ever since the two tied the knot. Netizens have accused them of having a relationship while Shahroz was still married to Syra and that Sadaf was the reason behind their divorce.
“The reason behind my divorce with Syra was not a woman… not Sadaf… not infidelity,” Shahroz said on oath.
Shahroz emphasized that his separation with Syra took place long before he met Sadaf and there was nothing going on between them. He also challenged his critics to come forward and prove his infidelity if they think they are right.
“Syra and I separated in August 2019. I met Sadaf three or four months after that through work. The reason behind our separation was not Sadaf, or any other woman or man. I can safely challenge any person to provide evidence to prove otherwise.”
He also said that the reason behind his divorce is personal. He never wished to divorce Syra but due to some ‘irreconcilable differences’ and disagreements, they had to part ways.
“Syra and I tried to work on our marriage. However, there was a disagreement between us over a very personal matter, which then led to divorce.”

Another reason behind making this video was to prove his innocence to his daughter.
“I am making this video for my beautiful daughter who I love very much. When she grows up and asks about the things being said, I will have this video to show her what I said in return.”
The Bisat e Dil actor said that he will defend his family’s integrity until the end.
“People wanted me to remain silent and look the other way on all the allegations being put on me. However, I will defend myself, my family, my wife Sadaf, till the very last breath.”

It doesn’t seem like the public is in any mood to forgive him.
As expected, Shahroz kept the comments off as he was trying to ‘defend’ himself. But the people think otherwise.
An Instagram user commented on his old post,
“If you have posted a video about you believing ‘RIGHT TO DEFEND’ then you should have the balls to open the comment section too and we have the right to comment.”
Similar comments found their way into Shahroz’s old posts, saying they don’t believe him anymore. Some have straight-up canceled him from their celebrity lists.
Perhaps the public wouldn’t react this way if he hadn’t deleted the previous video as well. Also turning the comments off and only saying what you want to say is a big no-no.
Artists and fans share a special bond but if the artists only want their fans and followers to bestow them with love and support all the time? Does it even work like that?
Support and criticism tend to coexist, and even celebrities are not immune to comments by others. That’s the flip side of being famous, because it goes both ways.
Whether Shahroz is in the wrong or not, we are not the ones to judge. It’s up to the readers and the fans to decide and act collectively.
