A Grade 12 student in Bihar’s Nalanda district fell unconscious in the examination hall on Wednesday after discovering himself to be the lone male among 500 female candidates.
The student was identified as Manish Shankar Prasad, 17, who went to the Brilliant Convent School Sundargarh to sit for the mathematics examination.
According to his relatives, he was the sole male student at the institution. He got anxious when he noticed a huge number of female students and slumped on the floor.
The school administration stepped in to help, admitting him to the Sadar Hospital for treatment. He recovered consciousness after a few hours, according to his father, Sacchidanand Prasad.
Another family criticized the Bihar Intermediate Council for allocating him to the female-only examination center.
The student, Manish Shankar’s aunt said,
There were more than 500 girl students in the examination centre. The school administration had given the seat to my nephew in the main hall of the school surrounded by a large number of girls. Manish failed to handle the situation after he saw a large number of girls and fell unconscious.
Cheating has been reported in various districts, including Nalanda, neighboring Nawada, Munger, Banka, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Araria, and others, as the intermediate (class 12 board) examination began on Wednesday. Several examination centers witnessed viral videos in this respect.
