In yet another disturbing incident of sexual harassment, actress Srha Asghar was assaulted outside her home in Karachi.
The incident reportedly occurred on 1st August while Srha was on her way home from the market when an individual began following her and attempted to sexually assault the actress outside her house.
Fortunately, Srha’s husband, Umar Murtaza, intervened and apprehended the deviant identified as a man named Asim. The FIR was officially registered at Shah Faisal Police Station by Srha and her husband.
As per the statement given to law enforcement, Srha recounted that an individual began following her and subjected her to catcalling as she was making her way home from the market.
The situation escalated as the individual pursued her to her doorstep and allegedly attempted to touch her inappropriately, resulting in her clothing being torn.
In her testimony, Srha detailed that she promptly rang her doorbell and contacted her husband for assistance. Subsequently, an altercation ensued between her husband and the alleged perpetrator.
Responding to the urgency of the situation, Srha’s husband and neighbors took hold of the accused and handed him over to the police.
The incident has understandably caused distress for Srha Asghar and her husband. Adding to their ordeal, several news outlets have approached them for comments and interviews, which has only added to their stress.
Srha voiced her concerns on Instagram, urging media personnel to cease contacting them regarding the incident. She expressed frustration with news channels that had linked personal information to the incident and criticized them for seeking interviews for the sake of ratings.
