Student Biryani Opens Its Second Branch in Australia

Australians and desis get another reason (and excuse) to try out piping hot biryani.

We’re all pretty used to and have easy access to Student Biryani here in Pakistan. Its just everything – from a usual favorite and comfort food to a filler meal. But what if you weren’t in Pakistan and missed that biryani back home?

While Pakistan has an abundance of international food chains that specialize in everything from fast food to fine dining, desi expatriates in other countries might not be that lucky. But things are slowly but surely changing. For those in Australia, famous food franchise Student Biryani has now opened its second branch, this time in Sydney. That’s great news indeed.

Although there are plenty of restaurants that offer Pakistani cuisine abroad, most of them aren’t really even Pakistan-based brands. That doesn’t seem to be the case here thankfully.

Straight Outta Karachi

Karachi-based Student Biryani’s fan favorite is, of course, its biryani but it does offer a couple other fast food items. The brand already had a branch in Auburn, which met success soon after launch. The food chain is now expanding its presence in Australia with another branch in Cleveland Street, Sydney.

For those in Sydney, Student Biryani is offering a taste of authentic biryani. For adventurous Aussies who just want to sample the best of Pakistani cuisine, or for desis who are looking to satiate their taste buds, this is the place to be.

Pakistani Cuisine still has ways to go internationally

There are other food brands that have expanded outside of Pakistan, but these are usually located in the Gulf countries, especially in the United Arab Emirates. A no-brainer of a choice since UAE has one of the largest expat populations from the subcontinent.

While apparel brands like Khaadi and Junaid Jamshed have expanded outside of Pakistan into the West, its good to see our local food brands doing the same as well. Here’s to hoping more Pakistani food brands go global.
