Q. First of all, tell us how you got the idea to become a content creator. Share the story behind it all for those who seek inspiration. How did you start?

So, the idea of content creation was totally random, and thanks to COVID-19 I was really free and under isolation when I got the idea that I should start creating some content.

I was fond of acting since my childhood and I’ve been doing it at school, college, and university levels but I never really knew how to professionally pursue this career. So I just randomly started creating content and that eventually bore fruit.

Q. You must have slightly different audiences on Facebook, Instagram, etc. How do you cater to this fact while creating content? Also, which one is your favorite platform and why?

I’m never really particular about creating content specific to a particular format because most of my audience generally belongs to India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, and usually the content is relevant to all these countries. Therefore it is never a problem for me to differentiate between creating content for different audiences.

My favorite platform is Instagram because I feel that Instagram has a mature audience as compared to Facebook and TikTok.

Q. What is the most difficult component of content creation? How do you come up with the ideas for your videos?

Ironically, the most difficult component of content creation is the most beautiful component. By that, I mean that when you’re creating content you are an all-in-one person who is responsible for coming up with the idea, shooting the video, editing and publishing the content considering all the factors.

All in all, you begin with being a scriptwriter, move on to being a cameraman, light man, costume designer, actor, producer, and eventually stop at being the director. It doesn’t end here at all because now you become the social media and data analysis team.

So in a nutshell, the most difficult component of content creation is eventually the most beautiful component which is doing each and everything by yourself.

Q. How do you measure the success of your content, and what metrics do you use? How important is audience feedback for people like you in Pakistan?

In my opinion, the term success is a very relative term which is ABC for some and XYZ for others.

I might be successful to some people but to others, I may just be wasting my time. But to me, I feel really good that things have turned out well and are progressing smoothly as I have always aspired to be an actor and wanted to pursue this field since childhood.

Q. It wouldn’t be right to ask how much you earn but you can tell us an average income that content creators can expect to make if they are successful?

Actually, you rightly mentioned that it is not appropriate to ask how much we earn however, I’ll give you a general perspective.

There is a huge gap between the right balance of brands and content creators. By that I mean brands generally don’t realize the benefits they get while engaging a content creator for the promotion of a particular product.

Similarly, content creators do not realize their actual value and charge way less than what they should be doing as the advantages that they bring to the brand are much more as compared to the amount that a content creator charges.

In Pakistan, a decent content creator having a good enough fan following should be earning somewhere between Rs. 300,000-500,000 per month.

Q. Is it important to stick to a niche or anything works, especially when you develop a decent following?

Yes definitely, I think one needs to stick to a particular niche initially as that defines what a particular creator is all about. It becomes their identity!

However, as the creator starts to gain a decent fan following, he or she should definitely try to innovate and create something different that may appeal to and appease the audience.

Q. Everyone wants to be a content creator at some point, but they don’t get to be as successful and eventually give up. What’s your secret to success?

If you ask me the secret to success in content creation I would sum up in two words: Belief and Consistency.

Q. Do you think the field is saturated or is there more room for content creators?

Oh yes, the market is saturated, but it can also be termed as a basic human psyche, because whenever you start doing something you automatically start observing more about it.

For example, if I start a real estate business, I would be surrounded by people who are in the same field, I would be interacting regularly with them and I would automatically get a vibe that every other person is into the real estate business.

The same is the case with content creation, as I am a regular content creator I generally get the perception that every other person around me is a content creator, however on the contrary, if we consider the numbers, then Pakistan has a very small amount of content creators as compared to its population.
