Taylor Swift is Now Using Facial Recognition Tech to Identify Her Stalkers

Well this is interesting. And creepy even.

Taylor Swift is really doubling down on her stalkers. The pop star had a facial recognition camera capture the crowd at her May, 18 concert at the Rose Bowl.

The Rolling Stones broke the news that there was a facial recognition camera embedded inside a kiosk displaying snippets of the pop star‘s rehearsals.

These pictures were then sent to a command post in Nashville, Tennessee where all those faces were cross referenced against images of hundreds of known Swifties-turned-stalkers.

Although we know that this device was used on Taylor fans we don’t know if prior permission was sought to do so. If not, things might hit the fan when it comes to legal complications.

Cause for Concern?

Facial recognition technology is being increasingly deployed around sensitive installations around the world. China has taken this tech one step further by deploying a system that scans its citizens’ whereabouts in public.

But this being a Taylor Swift concert, perhaps they went too far. Or perhaps today’s millionaire pop stars think that their privacy needs to be protected at all costs. This incident definitely has fans and others up in arms about their privacy being violated.

Does It Even Work as Advertised?

Back in May 2018, Amazon came under fire for selling facial recognition software to any law enforcement agency.

The matter just got worse when that same software matched 28 Congressmen to known criminals (take about a major fail) just one month later!

Just recently, civil rights organizations have demanded that the Department of Homeland Security be transparent on its use of facial recognition technology.
